Legal formation for yourmarriage and family therapy practice.
Your attorney reviews your license and proposed corporate and practice names, prepares your corporate records and makes the initial filings.
Your formation is led by Zach Javdan, LawInc’s founding attorney, licensed in California since 2002.
- 01Your eligibility reviewed.
The attorney reviews your eligibility to own the MFT corporation. If the proposed ownership includes a different license, an entity, a trust or an out-of-state owner, contact the attorney before ordering.
- 02Your therapy practice name checked.
An MFT corporation’s name must include required professional wording. The attorney checks your proposed corporate name, and any practice name you plan to use, before the Articles are filed.
- 03Your corporate records prepared.
You receive bylaws, organizational minutes, share documents, a stock certificate and a stock ledger. LawInc also makes the initial state filings and obtains the EIN.
- 04Direct attorney access.
Questions about ownership, your corporate or practice name, or your documents go straight to the attorney handling your formation. The founding attorney takes the call.

What the attorney reviews before formation.
Before filing the Articles, the attorney reviews your license and ownership, your proposed names and your planned practice with you.
- 01Your license and ownership.
The standard $2,495 service is for a straightforward corporation with eligible California-licensed MFT ownership. Mixed-license, allied-license, entity, trust or out-of-state ownership requires attorney review before ordering and may require separate pricing. Registered associates and unlicensed investors cannot own shares.
- 02Your corporate and practice names.
Your corporate name must include the profession’s required words, such as “Marriage and Family Therapy,” plus corporate wording such as “Inc.” If the practice uses a fictitious business name, each patient must be informed before treatment begins that the business is conducted by a marriage and family therapy corporation. The attorney reviews both names before filing.
- 03Your planned practice.
Trainees can’t perform services in an MFT corporation, and registered associates can work in one only within legal limits. Tell the attorney how you plan to staff the practice; hiring and supervision arrangements are not part of the formation.
